Layland Leathercraft
Welcome to Layland Leathercraft.
Please feel free to browse my website. If you have any questions about leathercraft please do not hesitate to use the contact me page and I will try and answer your questions, but bear with me as I've only been doing this as a hobby since February 2010.
On the right you can see one of the first items I made (the actual first item was a belt which I made whilst attending classes from one of the best leathercrafters in the UK, Guest Leathercraft.
If you've just bought a leathercrafting kit from The Identity Store or Tandy Leatherfactory and are wondering what to do with it I strongly reccomend getting lessons from a proffesional leathercrafter. There are numerous ones throughout the country and they are well worth the expense just for the 'insider tips' you can pick up. You will almost always come away with something you can use everyday and as you are under their guidance they will be able to point you in the right direction should something go wrong.
The great thing about leathercraft for me is that you don't have to be able to draw. You can simply trace around a pattern and transfer it onto the leather. The skill is in how you decorate the pattern with the various tools after you have carved it into the leather. There are some examples of the tools used and their uses on the tools page.
